9 notes
Soon, this tumblr will be gone. I’ve come to the realization that as long as I subject myself to an alternate world of pictures that entice and sometimes make me feel unworthy.. I will always live unfulfilled.
Its a weird age we live in.. the boundaries of relationships have been broken down and we no longer feel a need for lasting human communication. We live in a time that we are so connected we forget ones self and the others around us.
As a 23 year old I come from a generation of wild turmoil and change created during the late 80s and mid 90s. Those periods of exploration and humanistic ideas are gone. We as a nation have plugged in to the idea that we can live like those people we see on the Internet and other outlets.. So we/myself start trying to become those people. My personal goal is to be perfect.. Like those people you see in the blogs, gorgeous body, beautiful face.. I want to feel special and craved for only two minutes. In the end the need and desire to become those people instantly gets pushed aside for more interaction online. In reality those who create these blogs are ran by those that have extreme issue with body image and social interaction. What happened to us.. People getting fired for looking at porn at work, citizens so addicted that they seek out and are arrested for 6000 counts of child pornography. this is a generation on its way to complete desensitization. When we have to start hiding our blogs and use private browsing just to use our tumblrs and look at porn. We have lost ourselves. We have checked out of reality.
Now, that said I am not an angel. I have problems and issues just as the next persons and in all reality am in no way conservative to the idea of porn or the Internet in general.
My thoughts are solely based off of my own experiences with these issues.
There is talks in the appending future of true singularity. It’s the talk of a way of life in the next 40 years where the need to survive is subsided and our brains will have merged with technology. This idea of a singular mind and thought is very much alive today.
The Internet a tool meant to be used for good has made us into singular minds.. Only thinking, dreaming and caring for ourselves. Sure, we can express our interest to get out there and do something for the greater good of mankind but until we get off our asses and press the exit in the right or left hand corner our lives will continue to be lived void of empathy or respect for our fellow man.
This to me is frightening. Think about it. Someday we are so far removed from the human touch and care we turn into our technology? We are in a time when in our free time we are are consumed by what’s going on virtually that we forget the person we are laying next to before we go to bed. Couples no longer communicate through emotion and body language it’s through a wall post or two and the occasional message. Its easier that way.. We put forth no effort.. The other person is left to feel secondary to a machine or website or that being said the people on those sites.
Lastly, for all of my bitching and moaning I’m writing this to say that when in fact I do examine my life online.. In reality only 330 of you are actually reading this.. For those of us that need or claim to have that need to post.. Think about how many people you actually reach. For some of us yes, we reach a lot of eyes. But, more likely we have less followers than our age.
This is it. Time for this generation, yea the one that knows what it’s like to live without being connected, to show those In a younger generation that life doesn’t exist online.. It’s right in front of you.. In the people you love. It is there that we start to grow our minds and develop that empathy for one another that we are lacking. The word should be spread that superficiality and narcissism will only carry us to a dark place that will lead to nothing more than heartache.
Finally, this is my last post.. Sure I may screw up in the future and reblog something or randomly log on.. But that’s the reminder of the struggle we all have. It’s time for me to get back to the humanistic ideas of the past. This is it.. my own personal revolution starts today.
